About this opportunity:

The Operations Technology Team is currently looking for a Senior Site DCS OT Systems Technologist to join our Foster Creek team!

Reporting to the Manager, OT Systems, the Site OT DCS Systems Technologist is to provide Level 1 support of the on-site industrial control system (ICS) and break fix of critical control system components at our upstream assets to maintain system health. Along with supporting their primary asset location, this role is expected to provide rotational support to secondary assets, both remotely and in-person, when required.

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 11.43 hrs per day, 7 days on, 7 days off, Tuesday to Tuesday.

  • Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations

  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for the on-site health monitoring, high system availability, preventative maintenance, and break fix of the following

    • DCS, PLC and SIS Hardware and Software

      • Honeywell, Rockwell, Triconex, HIMA

  • OT Technology customized for Control System Infrastructure

    • Virtualization (Hyper V & VMWare)

    • Domains

    • Virtual Desktops & Applications

  • Networking and Security

    • Basic Cisco Configuration

    • Industrial Networks, ethernet IP, Modbus

  • Cyber Security Operations

    • Patch Management

    • Access Provisioning

    • Application Control

    • Disaster Recovery Plans

  • Technology & Lifecycle Management

    • Maintain Installed Inventory Database (OT-Base)

    • Parts management

  • Knowledge

    • Provide appropriate levels of documentation to support the repeatability of OT tasks and assist in skill development and knowledge transfer of team members.

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to support implementation of MOCs, new projects, and technologies.

  • Responsible to participate in emergency response, continuity, and recovery.

  • Actively participate in Cenovus safety programs and abide by safety policies

Who you are:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

  • 8-12 years as a Professional Engineer or 8+ years as a Technologist working in the Instrumentation, Automation and Control System field with a broad level of experience.

  • Experience with the Engineering, Commissioning, Operation & Maintenance functions of a production facility

  • Demonstrated design, implementation, and operational knowledge of integrated plant control systems (Honeywell, Rockwell)

  • Experience with work management systems (SAP, Service-Now)

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • Successful participation in a team environment

  • A sound understanding of Business-driven cost initiative within the Automation function (i.e. Capital vs Operational costs)

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
