About this opportunity

Cenovus’s New Grad Program aims to attract, develop, and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company. The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus’s core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.

Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus’s varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required.

Work Environment:

  • Lloydminster Thermal schedule: 7 days on 7 days off, a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays.

  • Lloydminster Upgrader schedule: varies rotational shift.

  • Successful candidate will need to live in the surrounding area or be willing to relocate to Lloydminster.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities may include:

  • Operate the Facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance

  • Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g., volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)

  • Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Company’s requirements, policies, and procedures, while leading by example

  • Comply with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this Position's responsibilities

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Available to begin work September 2025

  • Must have a diploma in Power Engineering program obtained by May 31, 2025, and completed within the last 2 years (2023, 2024 or 2025)

  • Minimum 3rd class power engineering certificate or successful completion of 3rd class engineering provincial exams with the expectation to acquire 3rd class ticket within 6 months of graduation

  • During the three-year program you will be expected and must be willing to relocate to any of Cenovus’s operating sites for your rotations and/or your end-of-program placement. Note that your initial location will be considered your “home location” and will likely be where you will be based upon program completion

  • This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.

  • Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver is abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role.
