THE ROLE

Physical fitness is our strength!

Working with Canadian Armed Forces members, supporting them, and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country could lead to an extremely rewarding career.

As a member of a dynamic and dedicated team, you will be responsible for outdoor activities, group classes, and leading recreational activities. You will have the opportunity to organize outdoor activities, lead group classes, and support day camp operations with motivated and engaged clients.

On a daily basis, you will be responsible for planning and leading outdoor activities and group classes. You will foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

You will also plan and lead various special recreational activities, in addition to leading activities for groups of young children as part of the day camp program.

Just like the military personnel we so proudly support, we push the boundaries of what is possible. Your position will allow you to deliver programs and services based on cutting-edge scientific research using state-of-the-art technology.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field AND several years of experience in physical fitness evaluation and prescription or in a related field

Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications

Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate

Current Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor

Current Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer (Asset)

Canadian Forces EXPRES Test - Incentive Level

Successful completion of the Principles of Healthy Child Development and Quest 2 certification, HIGH FIVE (by the end of probation)

Successful completion of the Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Instructor’s Course (by the end of probation)

Experience

In evaluating, planning and organizing the delivery of aquatic programs

In preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions

In instructing health and physical fitness training modules

In applying policies, procedures, and regulations

In evaluating physical fitness

In aquatics programs

In coaching sports

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Bilingual (English and French) Essential

Reading: Basic

OTHER INFORMATION

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.

PSP: Keep our Canadian Armed Forces operationally ready and their families and military community healthy as part of the team at Personnel Support Programs. Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment.
