This position is available full-time or part-time or as part of our paid education program.

Overview

As a Marine Systems Electrical Technician, your primary duties are to:

  • Read and interpret engineering sketches and drawings, including electrical and electronic drawings
  • Monitor, operate and maintain the electrical machinery for the shipboard power generation & distribution, the propulsion & auxiliary machinery electrical systems, the marine automation & control systems, the motors & drive systems, the shipboard instrumentation & sensors, and many more.

  • Marine Equipment Electrician
  • Commercial Electrician

To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada;
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except:
    • For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent);
    • For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student;
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education).

Required Education

The minimum acceptable education to apply for this position is the completion of provincial requirements for Grade 10, including Grade 10 Applied Math & Grade 10 Applied Science.
