As a member of the commercial legal team, your main responsibilities will be to advise a multitude of teams and participate, as a legal expert, in the development of new projects for Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) and its subsidiaries, mainly in North America.
To do this, you will be supporting mainly the teams responsible for the Dealer and Distribution Network, the Sales and Customer Services, and the Marketing strategies. You may also have the opportunity to support the teams in Manufacturing Strategy, Logistics, Real Estate and Global Trade Services.
To support these business teams, you will work closely with colleagues within the legal services as well as from other departments, including Procurement, Data Privacy, Security, Insurance, Tax, Public Affairs, Compliance, Patents, Product Safety, Communications and many others.
YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Negotiate, draft and review contracts relating to services of various kinds such as licensing, supply, development, product strategy, marketing, ambassadors, sponsorships, advertisement and many more
Assess, explain and communicate risks while making recommendations to solve or prevent them by providing proactive advice, developing negotiation strategies and creating innovative solutions
Advise on advertising and promotional activities to ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian laws (e.g., FTC, state/provincial consumer protection laws, Antitrust/Competition Law, Distributor Regulatory Framework)
Combine your legal reflexes and business acumen to become a key partner to senior leaders within the Sales, Aftersales, Network Development and Litigation teams to align legal strategy with business objectives
Understand and keep abreast of industry trends and the company's legal and regulatory landscape, especially with respect to product distribution, warranties, consumer rights, and many more
Promote compliance with company guidelines and policies, and contribute to training for BRP's internal business partners
Travel periodically between BRP's Quebec offices (Valcourt, Montreal, Sherbrooke)
YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
5 to 8 years of experience as an in-house lawyer for a company of similar scale and/or industry as BRP or in a private law firm supporting clients of similar scale and/or industry as BRP.
A bachelor’s degree in law (LL. B or J.D.) and membership with good standing in a relevant law society.
Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts such as service agreements, supplier agreements, software usage and development agreements, professional and consulting services, SaaS, licensing.
Displaying curiousness, discipline, autonomy, and initiative in his/her work.
Working independently while managing multiple tasks and competing priorities under tight deadlines and changing circumstances.
Converting legal concepts into lament terms with practical and actionable advice.
Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.

The position is based in Quebec, Canada, and can be located at either BRP’s downtown Montreal office or in Valcourt at BRP’s headquarters in the Eastern townships of Quebec.
