The Vice President, Investment Banking Business Technology & Product plays a strategic role in shaping and enabling the technology agenda supporting the Investment Banking business, including M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, and related advisory functions.
The role partners closely with senior Investment Banking, Technology, and Operations leaders to align business priorities with evolving technology capabilities. Acting as a connector across stakeholders, the VP helps guide the development and enhancement of platforms supporting the deal lifecycle-spanning client coverage, pipeline management, deal execution, and regulatory workflows.
The VP contributes to the evolution of a coordinated technology roadmap, helping ensure alignment across multiple initiatives, stakeholders, and regions. This includes supporting governance, prioritization, and execution processes to enhance consistency, efficiency, and client impact across Investment Banking platforms.
Key Accountabilities
Strategy & Product Alignment
- Partner with Investment Banking leadership to shape and refine the technology and product agenda, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of a multi-year roadmap across CRM, deal workflow, and client data platforms.
- Act as a key liaison between business and technology teams, translating business needs into clear and actionable inputs for delivery teams.
- Support prioritization discussions, helping balance business outcomes, regulatory requirements, and capacity constraints.
- Promote solutions that enhance banker productivity, client engagement, and data usability.
Execution Enablement & Delivery Support
- Collaborate with Technology and Operations teams to facilitate effective execution across a portfolio of initiatives.
- Provide input into delivery governance, including requirements definition, testing approaches, and rollout planning.
- Engage in key forums to help ensure alignment, transparency, and issue resolution across programs.
- Support adoption efforts through engagement with end users and stakeholders, helping reinforce consistent usage and feedback loops.
- Encourage focus on outcomes, including user experience, efficiency improvements, and overall business impact.
Operating Model, Risk & Controls
- Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of the operating model supporting Investment Banking technology, including intake and prioritization processes.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure appropriate consideration of regulatory and control requirements.
- Support efforts to strengthen data quality and governance practices, particularly across client and deal data.
- Participate in identifying and addressing risks or gaps in processes, controls, or system functionality.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide guidance and direction to a team of Directors, Product Managers, and subject matter experts, supporting delivery across key product areas.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment focused on clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Engage and influence stakeholders across Investment Banking and partner functions, including senior business leaders.
- Support development of team capabilities in product management, delivery coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
Enterprise & Cross-Business Collaboration
- Promote alignment across Capital Markets and partner businesses to support integrated client coverage and process consistency.
- Collaborate with enterprise teams on broader initiatives, including data integration, platform evolution, and workflow standardization.
- Encourage sharing of best practices and coordination across Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, and related functions.
Authorities & Decision Rights
- Influence prioritization and roadmap direction through active participation in governance and planning forums.
- Provide recommendations on resource allocation, sequencing of initiatives, and design considerations.
- Offer guidance to senior leaders on technology-enabled improvements to business processes and client engagement.
- Contribute to adherence with regulatory, risk, and enterprise standards across supported platforms.

- Supports initiatives that influence revenue generation, operational efficiency, and regulatory alignment.

Knowledge & Skills
- Significant experience in Capital Markets, with familiarity across Investment Banking processes and deal lifecycle workflows.
- Experience working within technology-enabled transformation or product management environments.
- Strong understanding of CRM platforms, workflow tools, and client data management concepts.
- Ability to translate business needs into structured requirements and delivery inputs.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders across business and technology teams.
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of risk, control, and regulatory considerations in a Capital Markets context.

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
