A career as an Associate Director, Liquidity Risk within the Liquidity and Funding Risk Oversight team at National Bank means acting as a specialist in the independent oversight of liquidity and funding risks. In this role, you will have a direct impact on the organization’s financial resilience through your expertise in risk management, banking regulations, and financial analysis.

Based on the role, you will be responsible for providing independent second-line oversight of liquidity and funding activities across the Bank.

Your Role

  • Provide independent oversight of the liquidity and funding risk management framework across the Bank and its subsidiaries.
  • Assess and challenge liquidity metrics, assumptions, methodologies, and governance processes to ensure sound risk management practices.
  • Deliver meaningful analysis and recommendations that support decision-making by senior management and governance committees.
  • Identify emerging risks, assess the impact of new products, and evaluate interdependencies with other risk categories.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of oversight practices, data quality, management reporting, and automation initiatives.
  • Perform scenario analysis, review stress-testing exercises, and assess resilience within a strong governance framework.

Your Team

The Liquidity and Funding Risk Oversight group, within the Integrated Risk Management Vice-Presidency, brings together professionals who work in an agile, proactive, and collaborative environment to protect the organization, support informed decision-making, and strengthen risk management practices.

As part of the Risk Management sector, you will join a team of highly specialized professionals and report to a leader within the group. The team is recognized for its deep expertise, analytical rigor, collaborative approach, and strong influence with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in a relevant field, combined with 5-8 years of experience in liquidity risk, treasury, capital markets, risk management, or related banking functions.
  • Proven experience providing independent oversight and effective challenge within a governance framework.
  • Strong understanding of bank balance sheets and the key drivers of liquidity and funding risk.
  • Solid knowledge of Basel liquidity standards and guidance issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and risk-related information.
  • Knowledge of data and analytics tools such as Python, SQL, business intelligence platforms, or asset-liability management solutions is considered an asset.
