This role is Hybrid (1-2 days in office Downtown Toronto) - not a remote position.

The Senior Scrum Master works on assigned projects from project initiation to implementation to achieve desired business results. Projects can range from Data & Analytics Reporting to Technology for Finance Tech Transformation, Strategy and Planning. The role assumes the incumbent is proficient at delivering a project end-to-end, on time, within budget, within quality standards and to the satisfaction of the project sponsor. Drives to mitigate execution risk to achieve the desired business outcomes. Understands the business/group and facilitates communication with other project sponsors and stakeholders efficiently and effectively. Directs, manages, and coordinates business and technology resources, user groups, internal and external consultants and contractors, as well as vendors and external regulatory organizations.

What will you do:

  • Manages projects from a Scrum perspective in Technology or Corporate Areas
  • Provides strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives.
  • Manages/validates financial forecasts and conducts ongoing reconciliation.
  • Monitors and tracks performance and addresses any issues.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards, creates proper documentation following PMI guidelines and Audit requirements.
  • Directs medium complexity initiatives typically involving 5-10 business units.
  • Exercises direct accountability for projects with up to 50 team members.
  • Negotiates complex contracts with external vendors (in consultation with Strategic Sourcing) to ensure receipt of specific resources and materials.
  • Provides guidance to the project sponsor on the implementation and sustainment of projects, resulting in successful project outcomes.
  • Manages all aspects of the project lifecycle, including business, operational and technology deliverables. Ensures all project processes are completed.
  • Executes project requirements in governance frameworks focused on risk appetite, regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Provides project sponsor with advice on the viability of the business case (costs, benefits, KPIs, etc.) throughout the project.
  • Understands project interdependencies and demonstrates critical thinking that proactively identifies project risks and establishes effective risk mitigation from the outset.
  • Acts as a Scum Master on selected projects.
  • Leads and/or represents the project in project team meetings, governance forums and inter-department forums.
  • Adheres to Bank risk, regulatory and compliance controls.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 10 - 15 years of relevant Scrum Master/ Agile Coach experience in the space of Finance Technology (MUST), working for Financial Institutions
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience in domains such as Data Reporting, Finance Technology
  • Application / SW Development project experience
  • Prior exposure to Data & Analytics (Data Warehousing, ETL process, Hadoop, Netezza) projects
  • Prior exposure to cloud technologies
  • Prior experience with AML and Regulatory projects
  • CSM Scrum Master Certification is a MUST
  • Experience building executive relationships and managing expectations appropriately.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving 5-10 Lines of Business across the enterprise.

Nice to have:

  • Agile Certification is an asset
  • AWS and/or Azure project experience

Compensation and Benefits:

$84,000.00 - $156,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
