The Pre-Employment Screening Analyst plays a critical role in protecting BMO’s people, assets, and information by delivering intelligence‑driven insights that support risk mitigation and informed decision‑making. Acting as an internal intelligence consultant, this role conducts comprehensive risk assessments, performs due diligence, interacts professionally with candidate and other stakeholders and follows adjudication guidelines that strengthen organizational risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute pre-employment screening activities with accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance
  • Review and analyze screening findings and candidate statements to identify discrepancies, evaluate risks, and ensure data integrity
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with candidates, internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner with candidates, internal and external stakeholders
  • Work independently while exercising sound judgment in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Escalate cases involving red flags or unique circumstances in accordance with established guidelines
  • Identify links, trends, gaps, and patterns in casework and provide insights to management
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying workflow enhancements and operational efficiencies

Risk Analysis

Evaluates incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous information to form validated assessments supported by clear rationale and documentation. Identifies patterns, risk indicators, and anomalies to support investigations and minimize organizational exposure. Documents work and rationale and maintains evidence as per guidelines.

  • Conducts detailed analysis of pre‑employment screening files, integrating multiple data points into concise, evidence‑based recommendations
  • Ensures pre‑employment screening reports meet standards for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Contributes to updates and improvements in pre‑employment screening processes, systems, and workflow tools
  • Works independently on cases and confidential matters using sound judgment
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in investigations, corporate risk, compliance, or pre‑employment screening
  • Strong comfort with technology, including emerging tools (AI, BOTs) and an understanding of system and data flows
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques, research methodologies, and risk‑assessment frameworks
  • Experience working with sensitive or confidential information in a regulated or high‑volume environment
  • Post‑secondary education and/or relevant business experience supporting analytical or compliance-focused work

You're fluent in French and English to support business operations outside the province of Quebec.

Salary:

$45,500.00 - $84,500.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
