The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is responsible for supporting BMO Private Banking Canada’s Investment Counselors (ICs) with the effective administration and implementation and monitoring of client investment accounts which are to be in line with BMO Private Investment Counsel (BPIC)’s philosophy, strategies and mandates.

Job Description
1. Portfolio Administration and Implementation
• Proactively assist PMG Managers with implementation of investment recommendations (from BPIC’s Investment Policy Committee and investment managers) in BPIC’s discretionary accounts.
• Create standard and customized reporting including, but not limited to, analysis and review of asset allocation and model portfolios, to support various BPIC teams and professionals.
• Prepare and coordinate communications with various stakeholders internal and external to BPIC or BMO to support investment recommendation implementation.
• Support Investment Counsellors (ICs) in the administration and management of client portfolios through various means, such as supporting the creation of investment models and creating client proposals.
• Complete routine activities to support portfolio management processes.
• Proactively liaise with the trading desk to enhance synergies.
2. Team Effectiveness
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with PMG Managers and ICs.

• Take initiative to drive efficiencies and enhance the effectiveness of the team.
3. Project Management
• Assist, as subject matter experts, with ad-hoc projects in support of BMO Private Wealth Canada initiatives.
4. Risk Management and Control
• Protect the Bank’s assets and clients by ensuring proper adherence to all aspects of First Principles, Our Code of Conduct, Ethics, and compliance policies and procedures relating to private client money management.
• Exhibit a strong level of understanding of policies and procedures relating to investment management and ensure risk management procedures and controls are being followed.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge
• University Degree
• Completion of Level 1 of the CFA Program, or in process of achieving the CIM (Chartered Investment Manager) designation, preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years working experience in the investment and/or financial services industry, either in a similar role or within the BMO Private Wealth or Investment Management divisions.
Skills
• Very good understanding of portfolio management principles and the regulatory environment.
• Ability to work in a face-paced environment.
• Very good interpersonal, communication, relationship management and persuasion skills (verbal, listening and writing).
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills as well as being organized and the ability to multi-task and take initiative.
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products and familiarity with taxation issues.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory environment.
• Strong technical skills and exposure to portfolio management and trading (Charles River - CRIMS and CRA) and book of record (FIS - Global Plus) systems is an asset.
• Strong computer skills: MS Office, MS Outlook; Bloomberg is an asset.

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
