Supports the execution of accurate and efficient reporting solutions for risk, regulatory and management information to internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies. Supports an efficient and effective risk management function which uses common information sources and practices, reduces ongoing costs, increases service level performance and minimizes risk.
- Acts as a trusted advisor to Market Risk, Trading, Treasury, and senior management by delivering timely, accurate, and decision‑useful market risk reporting and insights. Partners closely with stakeholders to support risk‑informed decision making and effective risk management outcomes.
- Leads the development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of the market risk reporting framework, covering management, committee, and regulatory reporting. Designs and implements reporting solutions supporting market risk exposure monitoring, limit usage, stress testing, and risk appetite oversight.
- Provides operational leadership and procedural guidance to Market Risk Analysts, ensuring consistent execution of reporting processes, market risk limit monitoring, and associated controls. Oversees daily limit usage review, breach identification, investigation, documentation, and escalation in accordance with established governance and policies.
- Conducts independent analysis of market risk metrics, exposures, and trends to identify emerging risks, material movements, and key drivers. Prepares clear narratives, insights, and recommendations for senior management, including support for capital‑at‑risk, risk/return, and limit monitoring analysis across portfolios.
- Owns end‑to‑end market risk reporting processes, ensuring strong governance, data integrity, and effective controls aligned with enterprise standards (e.g., BCBS 239 / RDARR). Maintains maker‑checker controls, issue management processes, and escalation protocols.
- Acts as a primary point of escalation for market risk reporting, data quality, control issues, and limit breaches. Coordinates with Front Office, Risk partners, Technology, and Data teams to resolve issues and track remediation actions.
- Executes and oversees scheduled and ad‑hoc reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and reliability. Analyzes and presents data through reports and dashboards, highlighting variances, trends, concentrations, and exposures; escalates material items as required.
- Supports the maintenance and evolution of market risk limits, key risk indicators (KRIs), and supporting analytics used by internal stakeholders and regulators. Provides subject‑matter guidance on reporting methodologies, assumptions, and analytical outputs.
- Coordinates with data owners, analytics, and technology teams to source, integrate, and reconcile data from trading systems, risk engines, and enterprise platforms, ensuring alignment with data governance standards and consistent use of critical data elements.
- Represents the market risk reporting function during internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and examinations. Supports interpretation and implementation of internal policies and external regulatory requirements relevant to market risk reporting.
- Leads or contributes to strategic and tactical initiatives impacting market risk reporting, including regulatory change, process enhancements, system upgrades, automation, and change management activities.
- Maintains and enhances documentation, desktop procedures, and control artifacts related to market risk reporting and limit monitoring processes. Supports training, coaching, and knowledge transfer to ensure sustainable operations and effective analyst coverage.
- Exercises sound judgment and operates independently to resolve complex, non‑routine issues, applying the Bank’s Risk Management Framework and risk appetite to protect the bank, ensure compliance, and support business strategy.
Qualifications:
- Typically between 3 - 5 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of market risk management concepts, including risk metrics, KPIs/KRIs, limit frameworks, stress testing, and portfolio risk reporting techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements for risk reporting.
- In-depth product knowledge for the designated business/portfolio.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management theory, processes and portfolio management reporting techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of reporting & analytics concepts and applications.
- In-depth knowledge of risk systems technology.
- Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risk information for diverse audiences, including senior management and regulators.
- Demonstrated collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across Risk, Front Office, Technology, and Data partners.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and handle non‑routine or escalated issues in a controlled, risk‑informed manner.
- Professional designations such as CFA or FRM are preferred but not required.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
