Toronto Asset Servicing Manager (BMO Capital Markets Corp) for Corporate Actions and Dividends reporting directly to the Associate Director of Asset Servicing in North America. The Asset Servicing manager will provide daily oversight, along with strategic and risk guidance to a portfolio of complex events for Capital markets trading and equity finance accounts. The team will service the Canadian and US trades/positions on five BMO business entities, two north American and three European.

The successful candidate will be accountable for functions that require specialized handling and skills, will act as the key escalation point for product business challenges, and to apply in-depth product knowledge to ensure consistency and effectiveness of service and support and effective management of risk and controls. This individual will operate as the technical expert for all aspects on the Asset Servicing Platform. Functions also include but are not limited to the on/off-boarding of all new associates and contractors. Tasked with managing 3 BMO associates and 1 External Contractor to ensure all SLA and deadlines/ regulatory requirements are met daily.

*There will be a period of implementation before the positions are migrated to their new accounts, at which point the role will become more focused towards BAU.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

  • Will report into the North American Asset Servicing team manager.
  • Able to Manage the full end to end processing of the corporate action lifecycle, from announcement capture through to the final entitlement reconciliations
  • Daily liaison with trading desks, ops groups, accounts and institutional counterparties
  • Daily monitoring and clearance of cash/stock reconciliations
  • Able to provide a hands-on approach to helping with BAU work is essential
  • Working to fulfil year-end/mid-year reviews and individual goal setting
  • Participation in in-flight and future departmental projects.
  • Managing a Hybrid working model
  • Maintain key controls and review processes to ensure operating integrity, comply with internal and external regulators, involving an understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements as prescribed for the business unit; provide recommendations and implement corrective actions to ensure adherence as required.
  • Performance driven, insightful self-starter with the ability to achieve and exceed goals in high-pressure environments, with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong client service and communication skills (both oral and written), detail-oriented, very organized, and displays a relentless focus on customer service and customer satisfaction
  • Deliver leadership and guidance to their related teams providing training, improve processes, implement controls and roll out new support requirements to meet all business needs
  • Act in an advisory capacity, as a subject matter expert (SME) to senior management on the implications of proposed business decisions related to Asset Servicing
  • Manage key controls and review processes quarterly
  • Projects and supporting all audit requests submitted by corporate, regulatory and external auditors

Industry Knowledge:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in asset servicing, with a Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a voluntary corporate actions’ role, Within a Top/Mid-tier broker dealer or Bank
  • Ability to manage 5+ associates across both Internal and outsourcing (Onshore and offshore)
  • Experience servicing cash Prime Brokerage clients is an asset
  • Strong Understanding of voluntary election arbitrage
  • A collaborative approach to working with teams in other geographical locations, for the running of BAU work as well as ongoing project work
  • The ability to spot gaps, therefore risk, in the process, with the corresponding ability to provide workable solutions

  • Strong Accounting/Reconciliation background or related experience
  • Undergraduate degree with a solid mathematics component, or an equivalent depth of knowledge via experience/training
  • Maintain key controls and review process, where applicable, to ensure operating integrity, comply with internal and external regulators, involving an understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements as prescribed for the business unit; provide recommendations and implement corrective actions to ensure adherence as required
  • Ensure the appropriate business continuity plans (BCP) are maintained and tested
  • Ability to identify risk breakdowns in controls and processes
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work in a high-pressure work environment
  • Working knowledge of all functions within DTC for Asset Services, CDS, BPS, BNP NEOLINK and external automation vendor applications.

Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
