Associate, Quantitative Modelling (Global Markets)

As part of the Quantitative Modeling team, the successful candidate will perform a wide range of activities related to the life cycle of mathematical/computational models developed and/or owned by Global Markets Engineering and used within BMO Capital Markets. Specific duties will include:

• Designing and executing tests on valuation models and tools developed by Quantitative Modeling for use by Global Markets trading desks across multiple asset classes.
• Writing comprehensive model documentation containing technical details of the model methodology, analysis of test results and other relevant information.
• Interacting with groups outside of Global Markets, such as Model Risk Management, Valuation Product Control and Market Risk, on model-related topics.
• Executing processes for ongoing model performance monitoring and reporting key performance metrics.
• Support various other business activities related to the effective management of model risk.

Knowledge and Skills

• A university degree, preferably an advanced degree in a technical field (mathematics/mathematical finance, physics, engineering, computer science, etc.)
• Broad knowledge of quantitative finance at an advanced level and across all asset classes.
• Strong technical writing ability.
• Detailed understanding of regulatory guidance on model risk management, as outlines in the Fed/OCC SR11-7 and OSFI E-23 working papers.
• Proficiency in software development (Python, C++ / C#) is a definite asset.
• Able to present technically complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Detail- and results-oriented, able to exercise independent thought and adapt to new tasks quickly.

Please note salary range for this role is CAD $110,000 to $120,000.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
