Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Nursing is a self-regulated profession governed through the College. A nurse is responsible for practicing in accordance with the standards of the profession, and for keeping current and competent throughout his/her nursing career (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2009).
Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
Post Graduate certificate in O.R. techniques or equivalent preferred
BScN preferred
Canadian Nurses Association CPN(c) perioperative certification preferred
Training and experience in LEAN methodology required
Completion of Leadership/Management course preferred
Minimum of 5 years current Operating Room experience at Bluewater Health required
Demonstrated skills in leadership and conflict management
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills required
Must be able to manage stress and meet the physical demands of the job
Demonstrated ability to work in accordance with ORNAC standards
Demonstrated customer service excellence
Capable of directing patient care and working with physicians, nursing colleagues and other health care workers
Ability to delegate, plan, organize and set priorities
Demonstrated ability to fulfil role within Attendance Support Program parameters
Proven leadership skills as evident through involvement and participation in nursing committees and initiatives required
Organizes and coordinates patient care and provides clinical support as needed.
Must be able to multi-task and mange his/her time effectively.
Manages human and material resources responsibly.
Maintains clinical expertise and general knowledge of operating room specialties.
Is an active participant on the Perioperative Leadership team.
Uses skilled nursing judgment in prioritizing emergency care and in planning work assignments
Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new and current staff and students
Consults with Program Manager on specific nursing and organizational problems and carries out recommended solutions
Will perform other related duties as required
Selection will be made on the basis of skill, ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 10.07 of the ONA Collective Agreement
