The Team
The Human Rights Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial Tribunal established by the Human Rights Code (“Code”) to provide dispute resolution services in human rights matters. The Tribunal receives, mediates, and adjudicates complaints in human rights matters.
The Role
The Director provides leadership to support the Tribunal’s Operations through the development and implementation of progressive human resources policies; leadership of business operations including facilities management, coordination between operations and other teams, oversight of the operations team, and liaising between the Tribunal and Government and stakeholders; and ongoing provision of strategic, policy and administrative support to the Chair and Registrar. As a member of the leadership team, the Director contributes to organizational strategy and provides expert advice to ensure the Tribunal has the capacity to meet its current and future goals. The role also leads a diverse team and remains actively involved in day‑to‑day human resource management to ensure timely, efficient, and high‑quality service delivery.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, business administration or a related field.*
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in:
- providing advice to executives and senior managers on human resource management policy and practices and on a wide range of human resource matters
- working with labour and employment laws, with sound understanding of human rights and workers’ compensation issues
- leading, developing and implementing programs and projects in a complex environment including successfully implementing innovative human resource management programs
- business and strategic planning
- championing and leading organizational change initiatives
- providing oversight for financial operations including capital and operational budget development
- successfully leading a diverse team
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferences:
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience working in a legal or government environment.
- Experience in a high-volume workplace

About this Position:
This is a 12-month temporary opportunity. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position is located in Vancouver.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
This position is excluded from union membership.
