Description
The Stollery Unit Manager for the Pre-Admission Clinic (PAC), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Surgical Short Stay provides clinical and operational leadership across the perioperative continuum. This role supports day-to-day operations, fosters staff excellence, and ensures high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with best practices and organizational priorities. Working collaboratively with the Patient Care Manager, Clinical Nurse Educators, Anesthesia and Surgical Services Teams, and Ambulatory Care Leadership, the Unit Manager plays a key role in optimizing patient outcomes and team performance.
The Unit Manager for PAC, PACU, and Surgical Short Stay leads interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional perioperative care. Key responsibilities include budget planning, resource management, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role provides operational oversight, fosters staff engagement, and ensures adherence to protocols for pre-operative assessment, anesthesia recovery, and short-stay surgical care. This leader collaborates with Anesthesia, Surgeons, and both Ambulatory and Inpatient teams to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care. The Unit Manager is accountable for hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management, while cultivating a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. By partnering with Clinical Educators and Surgical Services Leadership, the Unit Manager supports excellence in patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Active registration with CRNA and recent supervisory experience. Baccalaureate degree from related health discipline. Minimum 5 years of current clinical experience in pediatric and/or acute/surgical care. Proven leadership in problem-solving, decision-making, and staff development. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, prioritize tasks, and build strong interpersonal relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum 2 years of management experience in perioperative, PACU, or surgical short-stay settings. Knowledge of pre-operative assessment, post-anesthesia recovery protocols, and short-stay surgical workflows.
