Description
This is a temporary, full time Registered Nurse with our Street Connect team. This team provides community-based services persons experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness. Street Connect will provide health services in a non-traditional manner to minimize health disparities and barriers for the underserved population within Fort McMurray. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Minimum 3 years' experience working with Addiction and Mental Health; 1 year experience working in a community setting required.
Knowledge of philosophy of Harm reduction practice. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Demonstrated effective communication skills. Nonviolent crisis intervention training. Ability to foster partnerships, establish and maintain strong working relationships with public agencies and government.
