Willow Square Continuing Care Centre in Fort McMurray includes 36 long term and palliative care spaces and 72 supportive living spaces. Its high standard of thoughtful design features lots of natural light, private rooms with zero-threshold showers, landscaped pathways, and gardens to make it feel like home. It’s also the first Alberta Infrastructure to use geothermal heating and set up to add solar panels and add 36 spaces in the future. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, ALA currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Minimum of 3-5 years’ recent nursing experience. Computer skills well developed in Meditech Care Manager, Microsoft office, Outlook. Expertise in wound care, wound vac, continence care and ostomy care. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Demonstrated ability to show initiative and work independently. Utilizes expert nursing knowledge, complex decision-making and critical thinking skills, collaborative approaches to care, evidence informed practice, and strong nursing competencies. Uses advanced knowledge, skills and judgment to improve client care and manage complex and challenging situations. Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills, compassionate and caring attitude, strong commitment to client safety and quality improvement initiatives, holistic and advanced assessment skills, adherence to the CNA professional Code of Ethics, Registered Nursing Competencies and an understanding of the Destination Home initiative for AHS are required. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job

A master’s degree in nursing or a related field is preferred. 1-3 years of Case Management experience. Medicine/Surgery experience preferred.
