Cancer Care Alberta is currently looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our inpatient team at the new Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful RN will provide acute medical care within the specialty program of Hematology, Oncology, Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplant. This is a fast paced and rapidly changing acute care environment providing both standard of care and new novel therapies. The successful RN will leverage their adaptability and critical thinking to thrive in this fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Working within a dynamic interdisciplinary team, the RN will rely on proven communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with physicians, nursing, allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive care within the specialty. The successful RN will thrive in a continuous learning environment with ongoing requirements for advanced certifications that will be fully supported by the management team. Importantly, this role also provides RN with unique growth and leadership development activities that include active participation in preceptorship, clinical trials, and ongoing professional development to enhance patient care. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience (including new graduates with related practicum or preceptorship training in acute care). Central venous access devices (CVAD) certification and/or experience. Must be self-directed, exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment and critical thinking skills.

Experience in Oncology, Hematology, BMT infusions within the last 3 years. Chemotherapy certification. Experience with the care of neutropenic patients in the last 3 years. Connect Care training, certification and/or experience.
