Description
This is an exciting leadership opportunity with the Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service (CRIS) program in Allied Health Community (AHC)- Edmonton Zone. The Physiotherapist II and CRIS Program provides services to adults living in the community with complex rehabilitation needs across three sites in the Edmonton Zone (Mother Rosalie Health Services Centre, Kaye Edmonton Clinic and Strathcona County Community Hospital). Reporting to the Manager, AHC, the Physiotherapist II - Team Lead is responsible and accountable for: planning/implementation/evaluation of clinical and clerical services for interdisciplinary team practices at all CRIS sites; providing strong clinical leadership and support to multidisciplinary team; maintaining strong communication links with management and clinical leaders; supporting staff in the provision of evidence-informed practice and alignment with organizational and departmental mission, vision, and values; identifying, reporting and supporting the implementation of corrective actions for concerns identified related to patient and/or staff safety and the provision of direct client care services. The Physiotherapist II - Team Lead develops and maintains strong working relations with key internal and external stakeholders in order to provide leadership and support to the Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service program. The successful candidate will work closely with the CRIS leadership team to support staff in the provision of seamless, high quality and sustainable patient care. Physiotherapist II - Team Lead will act as advanced clinical practice clinician and guide discipline specific service and standards (local and provincial) including eligibility and triage. Physiotherapist II - Team Lead will be key contact for coaching and development of physiotherapy staff and services within the program.
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.
Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
A Master’s degree and at least five years of RECENT experience as a rehabilitation clinician working with adults in community settings are required. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical knowledge and discipline‑specific skills in adult rehabilitation, with training and experience in Health Change Methodology™, Connect Care EMR charting and reporting, and a proven record of clinical leadership. Applicants must be adaptable, able to work independently in a dynamic environment, and skilled in problem‑solving, decision‑making, and critical thinking. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, along with strong assessment, organizational, counseling, and interpersonal abilities. The role requires the ability to build therapeutic and collegial relationships, navigate sensitive situations, and give and receive constructive feedback. A strong customer‑service focus and the ability to support diverse stakeholders are expected. Proficiency in virtual health platforms, word processing, email, and EMR systems is required, as well as an understanding of community rehabilitation and the social determinants of health. The role involves medium physical effort (20-50 lbs.) for equipment transfer and client support, including bending, lifting, pulling, and stairs. Prolonged sitting with a laptop and related technology is required for charting and virtual care. Ability to travel to all 3 CRIS sites for direct and indirect work.
Experience in Neurorehabilitation Research, Experience with Collaboration, Working groups, Student Preceptorship. Experience with Exercise prescription and virtual group facilitation software. Driven, Passionate, and Motivated to contribute and improve CRIS services, standards and team culture.
