Pharmacy Technician - Purchasing

The purchasing technician is responsible and accountable for overseeing activities pertaining to Pharmacy Services drug purchasing and inventory control. The position requires independent and unsupervised work under minimal direction with the occasional need to lead projects to completion. The position supports the vision, mission and business plan of AHS and responsible for managing back orders, monitoring drug inventories and coordinating the movement of inventory. They are required to maintain standard procedures for purchasing and inventory management. Assisting with quality control and improvement programs related to inventory and drug distribution. Management of reporting of manufacturer, wholesaler/distributor and vendor performance.

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

As required.

Previous hospital experience - minimum 3 years. Previous purchasing experience - minimum 3 years as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting. Proficiency in Oracle, iProc, and EPIC (Connect Care) programs. Knowledge of inventory management/procurement. Proficiency in back-order database.
