Description
AHS is seeking a Pharmacist I to join the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) team as a night-shift pharmacist. Located just north of Edmonton’s vibrant Ice District, the RAH is an 882-bed facility and Western Canada’s largest and busiest hospital, serving one-third of Canada’s land mass. As a regional leader in numerous specialties, RAH delivers essential health services to meet the evolving needs of Albertans. Our staff are encouraged to Use their Voice-advocating for patients, colleagues, and themselves-while fostering pride in our workplace culture, known as the RAH-Way. RAH is home to the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, C.K. Hui Heart Centre, Stollery Philip C. Etches NICU, Acute Care Addiction Recovery Program, Orthopedic Surgery Centre, and the Eye Institute of Alberta. We combine patient-centered care, advanced technology, research, and education to provide complex, specialized treatment to thousands of patients each year. In this overnight role, you will manage medication therapy to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate use. Responsibilities include assessing patients for drug-related issues, collaborating with healthcare teams, supporting distribution, and dispensing medications through order verification. Strong verbal and written communication, proficiency with medication order systems, problem-solving, and time management are essential to the role. The successful candidate will be working overnight shifts (23:00 to 07:15) in the dispensary. This specialized schedule ensures you will always have a colleague by your side, fostering collaboration and teamwork, while providing a strong support system. This unique shift distribution offers work-life balance, alongside a nightshift premium. We strive to provide a balanced schedule, however recognizing that operational pressures may arise. Our shift distribution may be subject to change.
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
