The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a self-directed health practitioner who provides care to an adult population with advanced liver cirrhosis in the ambulatory care setting. Working in consultation with Hepatologists and as part of the multidisciplinary team, the NP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnostics (including ordering and interpretation of test results), interventions (including prescription of medications), makes referrals, provides patient education, facilitates admissions and discharges from acute care and provides ongoing chronic disease management and care coordination. The NP consistently displays a leadership role in utilizing best practice and is expected to participate in program development, evaluation, research and clinical teaching activities. All duties and responsibilities of the NP will follow the guidelines developed by CRNA, UAH and the practice protocols of the Cirrhosis Care Clinic.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Experience in an acute care setting is required. Ability to demonstrate how education and experience has prepared them for this advanced practice role. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates ongoing ability for maintaining own professional and practice competencies through professional development activities. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, patients and their families as well as all members on the interdisciplinary team. Ability to push, pull and lift and provide direct patient care is required.

Demonstrated participation in practice committees, education and research. Experience with Cirrhosis population will be considered an asset. Connect Care experience and access.
