Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone Medical Affairs, is currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner to manage the medical needs of Neurology patients at the University of Alberta Hospital site. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) role is to promote excellence in clinical practice, utilizing a comprehensive knowledge base and an excellent ability to apply it to the clinical setting. The NP is required to perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of test results), interventions (including prescribing of medications), management, referral and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent is expected to provide leadership and participate in program development and evaluation, research and clinical teaching activities. The NP consistently exercises a leadership role in utilizing best practice.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

A master's degree in nursing with a focus on Advanced Clinical Practice. A minimum of 5 full time years of related experience as a Registered Nurse and ACLS are required. Recent experience working in an Emergency/Acute Care setting. Computer literacy skills mandatory (i.e. Connect Care, NetCare, etc.).

NP in an acute care setting, preferably Critical Care.
