Description
Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Worker III is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance and Engineering Department at the Edm Central Production Facility. Reporting to the Manager and under the supervision of the Lead Hand, the Maintenance Worker III performs a variety of skilled and complex operational and maintenance / repair duties requiring the use of schematics, blueprints and specifications while also using precedent and judgment in determining work methods used in accordance with accepted codes, standards, regulations and procedures. The incumbent will work rotating shifts including weekends and will be asked to rotate on-call responsibilities. This position may be required to work at other sites within the Community & Rural Sites portfolio. These sites include Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Sturgeon Community Hospital, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, Strathcona Community Hospital / CASA, Northeast Community Health Centre, Leduc Community Hospital, Devon General Hospital, Westview Health Centre, Henwood Treatment Centre and Food Service Centre.
As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems. In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
High School education or equivalent along with a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or higher is required. Minimum of 1 - 3 years related experience in building and/or hospital service is required. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. ABSA Certification. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have ability to work on ladder with arms above shoulder height for long periods of time when required. No physical limitations with regards to sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, etc. Must possess basic computer skills in addition to good verbal and written communication skills.
Post-Secondary education and/or technical training in a related field is an asset. Experience working with trades would be a definite asset. Aerial Platform Training would be an asset. Confined Space Awareness Training would be an asset. First Aid with CPR/AED Training would be an asset.
