The Cross Cancer Institute is looking for a motivated individual to join our small team in helping to provide exceptional customer service to our patients within our facility. We are looking for individuals who work well within a team environment and have the capability to work independently as well. This role is more focused on the architectural roles within the building such as small drywall repairs, hanging/removing items from walls, moving equipment within the facility, managing surplus, assisting teammates, and other various hands on tasks within the facility.

As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.

The incumbent must demonstrate basic working knowledge of building systems, as well as the safe use of hand and power tools required for maintenance activities. The incumbent must demonstrate working knowledge of working in a facilities maintenance or building operations environment. The incumbent must be physically capable of performing maintenance duties, including lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in hot, dirty, or confined environments. Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately document work activities are required. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. The incumbent must be able to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, manage competing priorities, respond to service requests, and comply with established safety and organizational policies.

Any experience in a hospital setting is an asset as well as any safety certificates. experience using power and hand tools, IPC knowledge within a hospital setting an asset.
