Description
Reporting to the Facility Manager, this position will be utilizing manual and self-propelled equipment, the Maintenance Worker II is responsible for the general cleaning and maintenance of the Royal Alexandra Hospital grounds. This position retains overall responsibility for snow cleaning operations during winter months, for litter clearing operations during summer months, for grounds general cleanliness year-round, for service and maintenance of grounds shop mobile equipment, for ordering supplies for the Grounds Team, and for the maintenance of the Grounds Shop itself. This position is required to keep logs and complete work requests and is expected to complete other related duties as assigned. The primary location will be at the Royal Alexandra Hospital but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by FM&E Director or Manager.
As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform a wide range of general maintenance duties including maintenance and repair of drywall, floors and painting. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repair; minor repairs on equipment; checks on equipment for pressure and temperature; and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required where boiler support is necessary.
Motorized equipment experience. Previous experience in groundskeeping. Experience operating grounds mobile equipment (skid steer, etc.). Must demonstrate the AHS CARES values at all times. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting.
6 months of related experience preferred. Training in small engine tune-up and repair would be considered an asset. Experience or training in a recognized trade would be considered an asset. Experience operating grounds mobile equipment (skid steer, etc.) would be considered an asset.
