Our Neurosciences Med/Surg Unit is a fast-paced, supportive environment that provides holistic care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions in the acute care phase. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a key role in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients and families-promoting health, preventing illness, and supporting recovery while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Work alongside nurses who are engaged, passionate, and committed to excellence. What You’ll Do: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to acutely ill and pre/post-operative neurosciences patients. Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Seizure Monitoring Unit Lead and collaborate in patient care planning and evaluation. Support patients and families through education and advocacy. Contribute to a positive team culture focused on excellence and innovation. Strengthen leadership skills through charge nurse responsibilities and mentorship of staff and students.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities. Strong communication skills. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Ability to repeatedly push, pull, and lift objects over 50 lbs.

1-3 years of experience caring for patients with neurological conditions. Experience with EPIC electronic health records. Seizure monitoring unit experience. TORBSST, NIHSS certified. Cardiac monitoring experience. Charge nurse experience. Experience mentoring new staff or final practicum students. Background in acute medicine and surgery nursing. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or equivalent.
