Cold Lake Healthcare Centre is seeking an Operating Room (OR) Operating Room Tech for its busy surgical program, performing various surgeries such as general, orthopedic, gynecological, dental, ENT, Endoscopy as well as cross training to other departments. The OR Nurse serves as a patient advocate, linking patient care units with the Operating Room, and plays a key role in perioperative care, including scrub, circulating, and post-anesthetic recovery. The OR Nurse must thrive in a fast-paced, highly integrated surgical team, demonstrating advanced critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills. The role is physically demanding, requires strong organization, coordination, and adaptability. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, promoting professional standards, and integrating evidence-based practices for optimal surgical outcomes. Moderate to heavy lifting, standing, bending and walking for extended periods of time, constant interruptions and stressful situations. Cold Lake, a small city in northeastern Alberta, it is situated on the traditional lands of Treaty 6 and the Métis and is home to one of Canada’s largest military bases. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Completion of a recognized LPN Operating Room Technician course.

At least two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in an OR suite, day surgery unit and post-anesthesia recovery room or critical care setting.
