Description
AHS is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care (CCEZ) provides services through five main program areas: Home Living (HCC Type 1 & 2), Supportive Living (CCH Type B), Facility Living (CCH Type A), Palliative and End of Life Care, CHOICE & Adult Day Programs and Transition Services. The instructor is a member of the Continuing Care (CC) Education & Practice Development team in Edmonton Zone (EZ). They are responsible to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate CC orientation and education. In addition, this position will lead quality improvement projects and clinical audits. Key Responsibilities: Leads quality improvement initiatives to enhance processes and procedures in CC. Conducts Home Living quality audits to ensure stewardship of resources and quality of care. Plans, develops, delivers, maintains and evaluates orientation and education for staff. Collaborates with program areas, provincial teams and CC stakeholders to plan and facilitate education related to changes in policy, procedures, and clinical practice. Fosters leadership/mentorship support to team members to facilitate staff learning. The instructor adheres to a professional Code of Ethics and AHS policies and procedures that guides our work. As a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Alberta, the instructor is responsible and accountable for his/her nursing practice as defined by their regulatory college.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Baccalaureate Degree in Psychiatric Nursing. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in CC. Demonstrated background in leading quality improvement projects. Use of data to support evidenced/research-based quality improvement. Experience as a facilitator/educator and knowledge of adult learning principles. Demonstrated strong & effective communication and organizational skills. Leadership skills including demonstrated ability to work with various partners. Use of critical thinking to guide decisions. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Exceptional technical skills in computer software & programs such as Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Skype and Zoom to deliver virtual education is an asset. Physical Exertion: Frequent physical demands including lifting, pulling & pushing, moving equipment; standing for extended periods of time; sitting for extended periods of time is required. The successful candidate will work in different settings for environments & must be able to carry supply bags which weigh approx. 35-50 lbs. Possibility of shift work & extended hours.
Master’s degree in a relevant area such as health care management, quality improvement or business administration etc. Background using quality improvement methodologies and tools. Change management training or experience. Background in Connect Care, Case Management and InterRAI.
