Description
Provides leadership in clinical practice and client care for Supportive Living, and ad hoc to Facility Living. Enhances client care outcomes and staff professional development through expert clinical practice, administration, consultation, research and education. Functions as a leader, innovator and change agent in the pursuit of excellence in client care. Supports staff and encourages evidence-informed practice related to physiotherapy practice and collaborative practice with a multi-disciplinary team. Supports a team based, collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to client care. Participates in client reviews and encourages a person-centered focus and outcomes. Assists with change management and system transformation initiatives. Supports clinical service delivery. Facilitates training and workshops. Assists with linking and building community partnerships. Supports physiotherapists in complex client situations and system navigation. Participates in provincial clinical working groups. Provides leadership and expertise to all clinical activities. Chairs clinical allied health staff meetings and committee meetings as required. Maintains competence in advanced clinical practice relevant to Supportive Living and acts as a consultant to staff/management regarding clinical issues. Influences and supports a culture of professional growth. Assists with the assessment of education needs to staff and the identification of appropriate resources.
As a Health Educator, you will promote existing courses, as well as develop, coordinate and deliver educational activities to support staff learning based on a patient-centered care model. You will collaborate with Health Educators from all the Zones and relevant initiatives.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the applicable college.
Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy, leadership experience is preferred. Active registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLSHCP) is required. • Ability to evaluate clinical performance, assess staff clinical needs and plan appropriate education strategies. Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills as well as excellence in written and verbal communication. Coaches others and promotes teamwork and partnerships to attain optimal client outcomes. • Demonstrates creativity, flexibility an initiative. Displays highly developed organizational skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving ability. Please Note: This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required. The successful candidate will work in different settings and environments (consider different Supportive Living sites and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry supply bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs.
Skills and experience relevant to practice in community sector will be considered. Clinical experience within the community setting (2 years is preferred). Project management is an asset.
