Employees working at sites above the 57th parallel may also be eligible for a Northern Allowance of $6,300 annually, paid on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the basic rate of pay. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Dietitian I to join our team in High Level and La Crete. This dynamic position offers an exceptional opportunity to practice to the full scope of dietetics while serving a diverse population across multiple care settings. As the Dietitian for High Level and surrounding communities, you will provide nutrition care in acute care, long-term care, outpatient services, home care, and community-based programs, ensuring clients receive high-quality, patient-centered nutrition support wherever they are in their healthcare journey. No two days are the same. You will conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, provide counselling and education, and support clients in managing chronic disease, recovering from illness, and achieving their health goals.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients, clients and residents in a variety of health care and community settings to support positive nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and deliver public health nutrition services and education programs that promote healthy living and disease prevention for individuals and groups in facility and community settings. You will also provide nutrition education to students and other health care professionals to support the delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligibility for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to a Patient First philosophy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently while building collaborative relationships with colleagues and community partners. Strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills are essential in this varied and rewarding role.
Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures and histories, with demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to culturally safe care for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit patients and communities.
