The Dietitian is a frontline professional position within Nutrition Services (NS) reporting to the Manager, Nutrition Services, Chronic Disease Management In Calgary Zone. This position is a 1.0 FTE temporary position with the Diabetes and Pregnancy Program located at RRDTC and RGH. This is an 18 month maternity leave with anticipated start date of August 5, 2025 and anticipated end date of Feb 8, 2027. This position may start earlier for training. Days of work are Monday- Friday. The dietitian works with the Diabetes and Endocrinology Program providing nutrition counselling and diabetes management for pregnant women with diabetes, and supports women with diabetes preconception. The Dietitian participates as an integral member of the interprofessional team. The Dietitian is responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of client/ patient care plans in chronic disease management. The Dietitian acts as liaison between Nutrition Services and AHS programs, services and teams. The Dietitian provides nutrition expertise to internal and external stakeholders, and translates research findings in the field of nutrition for clients/patients, professionals and the public. The Dietitian uses nutrition counseling, behavioral change theories/strategies, or health promotion/population strategies as appropriate to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. The position supports nutrition education and training of staff or other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of consistent, accurate, evidence-based nutrition information. Currently care is provided in person, and virtually including Zoom and telephone.

As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

A minimum of 1 year experience working in ambulatory care required. Diabetes experience required. Experience working with clients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Experience working with women with gestational diabetes. Experience working with pregnant women. Experience providing individual instruction via Zoom.

Has restricted activity G - to distribute without payment drugs regulated by a schedule in the Pharmaceutical Profession Act and pursuant to a prescription if required by the Act in the provision of nutrition support or medical nutrition therapy.
