Description
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide an advanced level of nursing practice that maximizes the application of in-depth nursing theory, knowledge and skills in meeting the complex health care needs of individuals, families and communities. You will function as a nursing practice leader, consultant, expert practitioner, educator and researcher within a clinical specialty area. You will balance various roles depending upon the needs of the patient population and the healthcare team, collaborating on the provision of holistic and comprehensive care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Master's degree in Nursing. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 5 - 7 years recent experience in care of complex medical clients with a specialty focus in the care of the older adult population. Minimum of 5 years of formalized teaching experience with demonstrated capacity in establishing knowledge transfer. Minimum of 3 years’ experience navigating care within the continuing care or community model. Demonstrated ability to navigate clients through the healthcare system from acute to community based on client need and competency development in the community settings. Proven ability to engage clients with addictions, mental health, unsafe smoking and behavioral issues and develop effective care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving strategies in a quickly changing environment. Knowledge and skills related to application of learning principles for diverse audiences required. Demonstrated history of creating respectful, collaborative partnerships with contracted service providers. Excellent verbal and written communication required. Proven ability to interact effectively with clients with dementia. Proven ability to adapt to a changing work environment, competing priorities with professionalism. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision required.
