The Full-Time Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) collaborates in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education activities for designated nursing staff to support clinical competencies, organizational standards/practices/guidelines in collaboration with the leadership team and Part Time CNE. Using adult learning principles, the CNE develops and delivers educational activities for orientation, mandatory education, clinical competencies, and changes in policies, procedures and protocols, as well as other practice support documents to promote clinical competence for nursing staff. The CNE determines appropriate education based on identified needs which include legislation, continued competencies, quality improvement, strategic plans and objectives, as well as organizational needs. The CNE may also participate in the provision of direct and /or indirect patient care for the purpose of teaching nursing staff or facilitating patient care. The CNE functions as a change agent and resource to nursing staff for professional development and clinical competence in the designated patient care setting and/or program area. The CNE collaborates with the leadership team and Part Time CNE around quality improvement strategies and facilitates appropriate educational activities and process changes. The CNE collaborates with the health care team at the department, site, zone, and provincial level as necessary.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

A minimum of 3 years of full time clinical experience (in the past 4 years) in an adult critical care setting. Coaching and mentoring skills. Change management knowledge and experience. Self-directed and self-motivated. Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize competing demands. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of practice-related education resources to support staff. Skilled in retrieval and appraisal of evidence from a variety of credible sources. The position includes the following physical requirements: Being on one's feet for extended periods of time and includes walking and standing. Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous situations. Being able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning patients. Being able to push, lift and pull equipment. Ability to withstand repetitive strain associated with various periods of time sitting at a desk or using a computer. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).• Demonstrated effective collaboration within a team environment. Understanding and application of information and communication technologies. Demonstrated competence in the following advanced certifications: Dysrhythmia Interpretation, CRRT, TPE, Code Blue, Ventilator management, TTVP, Outreach and Advanced hemodynamics. Experience with Connect Care EMR.

Prior CNE experience Certificate in Adult Critical Care Nursing Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor Active BLS instructor Teaching/facilitation skills in small and large group settings utilizing knowledge of adult learning principles. Master's Degree in Health Care
