This is a 1 year temporary position with the possibility of extension in the Department of Clinical Engineering. The Biomedical Technologist II is responsible for the management of technology and support of clinically applied medical devices and systems. The technologist must possess comprehensive knowledge of clinical practices, procedures, and equipment along with a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology. Working independently or collaboratively as part of the clinical team, the technologist provides customer support, performs performance assurance testing, and carries out the maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical, and electronic equipment and systems. All responsibilities are completed in accordance with CSA standards, manufacturer recommendations, departmental procedures, and accreditation requirements. Additional responsibilities include prioritizing and scheduling assigned work, managing workload effectively, and performing other related duties as required. Biomedical Technologists are also expected to participate in on-call and after-hours support based on operational requirements.

As a Biomedical Equipment Technologist (BMET) II, you will provide assurance testing, maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical and electronic devices or systems.

Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).

Experience in critical care settings and operating room environment as well as vendor training/certification on devices like ventilators, ultrasounds, microscopes, lasers, heart lung machines or anesthesia gas machines. Will also consider candidates with an alternate equivalent diploma or higher associated degree from an accredited institution. 3 years' experience in acute health care setting.

Healthcare IT knowledge such as networking (including various protocols and associated hardware), application interfaces, antivirus/encryption, and experience with computerized maintenance management software and medical diagnostic software.
