Description
Safe Healthy Environments has an opportunity for a skilled administrative support professional to join the provincial Environmentally Acquired Disease Control (EADC) Program in an Administrative Support IV role. The EADC Program supports responses to public health threats including notifiable disease, animal exposures, suspected foodborne illness, and outbreak investigations. You'll be at the front door for action-monitoring and triaging a shared program mailbox, applying established protocols to identify urgency, requesting clarification to address information gaps, and routing notifications to the appropriate public health professional promptly. You’ll track items end-to-end so nothing is missed, support timely follow-up, and maintain accurate logs that help the program stay coordinated and accountable. Experience with EPHIS, Connect Care, and CDOM is essential. Collaboration is central to this position. You’ll work closely with public health inspectors, clinical and medical partners, analysts, program leads, and administrative colleagues to ensure smooth hand-offs, shared coverage, and consistent intake practices. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, use sound judgment under pressure, and take pride in clear communication, confidentiality, and follow-through, this is a chance to help protect communities-every day. This is a 1.0 FTE permanent position; location can be negotiated within the province based on operational requirements. Please note the scheduled days of work for this position is Thursday to Monday, inclusive.
As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
High School Diploma or equivalent; admin certificate/diploma or equivalent experience. 2-3 years recent administrative experience in a complex, high-volume environment. Experience supporting public health/communicable disease work (notifiable disease, animal exposures, suspected foodborne illness, outbreaks). Experience managing a shared mailbox/central intake: triage, prioritize urgent items, route/escalate per protocols, and request missing details. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate trackers/logs and follow items through to completion. Required operational experience with EPHIS, Connect Care, and CDOM. Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Outlook shared mailboxes/calendars, Excel trackers, Teams/SharePoint). Strong written/verbal communication, attention to detail, and sound judgment under pressure. Proven ability to handle confidential information appropriately and work collaboratively with a distributed team.
Experience providing administrative support within public health protection/communicable disease programs, including outbreak response or investigation coordination. Advanced experience with EPHIS, Connect Care, and/or CDOM. Experience developing or improving intake processes. Experience with records/information management practices. Familiarity with health information privacy and confidentiality requirements in a healthcare/public health setting.
