Description
Cancer Care Alberta is looking for an Administrative Assistant II (ASII) to join our Radiation Therapy department at the new Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Radiation Therapy the ASII works under limited supervision and provides an efficient and friendly reception service to all patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals. You will join complex, work team-oriented environment with over 250 patients seen daily. The ASII performs a variety of general office duties in a professional, effective, and timely manner. The position requires knowledge of the Cancer Centre and services provided and associated locations. The ASII must be a skilled communicator and demonstrate skills such as prioritization and adaptability. You will greet and check in patients, clearly communicate schedule details, deliver requisitions or questionnaires, provide accurate wayfinding and always comply with privacy and confidentiality standards. Duties will also include phone administration, paging and use of other office equipment related to patient services. The ASII will be responsible for clear documentation in the Connect Care medical record and use of application tools such as patient transport, in-basket messaging, and verifying/updating patient registration details. The ASII will calmly engage in difficult conversations with patients, carers or other health professionals as required and escalate when appropriate. You will assist in the development of office specific processes as assigned and will contribute to other tasks within the scope of the position as directed. The ASII will assist with orientation of new staff as required. Communicates with emergency services in the event of a Code or other emergency.
As an Administrative Support II, you will require administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Clerical, office administration, and telephone experience in fast paced, clinical setting. Customer Service Experience. Computer skills keyboard use and professional experience using Microsoft office (particularly Word and Excel) Experience with an Ambulatory application in Connect Care. Clear verbal and written communication in English. Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking distances, standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching related to the position and patient services. Ability to remain calm while working in a busy and stressful environment.
2 years’ experience in medical or hospital setting. Ambulatory Oncology experience. Recognized Medical Terminology course and Unit Clerk or MOA course.
