Air Canada is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and ambitious individual to learn and progress in their career with Air Canada. The Finance advisor represents Finance and will support the end-to-end consolidated reporting across Air Canada’s Operational and Commercial branches. This role supports monthly, quarterly and annual closes, as well as planning cycles (budget and outlooks); and delivers timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting to executive stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills (consolidations, variance analysis, forecasting) with business acumen to translate performance drivers into actionable insights. The role also supports ad-hoc financial analysis for decision-making, helping quantify business cases, operational initiatives and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities:
Operations and Commercial branches are the backbone of Air Canada’s business model and represent the key drivers of the airline’s overall financial performance.
Reporting to the Partner Financial Analysis, the incumbent will be based in Montreal, QC and be responsible for the following activities:
- Support the reporting framework and the preparation of reports, insights and analysis by coordinating inputs from finance business partners across the operational and commercial branches.
- Analyze financial results and apply necessary refinements to ensure reporting highlights the most relevant business insights and performance drivers.
- Manage, interpret and manipulate financial and operational datasets from varying information system sources.
- Produce ready P&L reporting materials for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, highlighting key variances and performance drivers.
- Support the development, monitoring and reporting labor productivity KPIs and other key financial metrics, providing executives with insights and narratives that explain workforce, operational and commercial effectiveness.
- Perform financial analysis and evaluations, business cases, projects and other initiatives.
- Measure financial performance and evaluate achievement of goals and objectives.
- Establish strong and effective working relationships with the finance representatives of the operations and commercial branches, as well as other internal clients.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Information Systems Management required. Professional designation is an asset.
- Experience/knowledge of company/airline operations is an asset.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in financial processes and financial forecasting techniques.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office. In particular, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI or other data management or analytics tools, an asset.
- Results driven with demonstrated strong financial and technical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work within a team.
- Excellent communication skills - oral and written.
- Demonstrated record of initiative and work ethic. Must be able to work independently as well as be adaptable and reliable.
- Good organization skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Solid work ethics, high degree of energy, dedication and autonomy.
- Needs to demonstrate interest in airline business and operations as well as a desire to learn.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
