THE ROLE: 

This is a great opportunity to lead the development of a Video IP and own a complex video hardware subsystem.

We are looking for a Hardware Design Verification Lead engineer to own all aspects of verification of a video codec (decode & encode) hardware IP design, managing a team of verification engineers and coordinating the verification process from planning through closure. You will be responsible to drive the verification strategy, manage resources, coordinate with other teams, and ensure high quality verification coverage of the video codec HW IP.  The goal being timely delivery of high-quality, verified hardware IP designs to SoC projects at AMD. 

 

THE PERSON:

A successful candidate will work closely with the HW architects & HW designers, Firmware developers, and software teams to achieve first silicon success. The candidate will be highly accurate and detail-oriented, possessing great communication and problem-solving skills.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Develop comprehensive verification plans and testbenches for video processing hardware subsystem for video decode & encode (JPEG, AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1).
  • Execute these verification plans and collaborate to debug simulation testcases so they function correctly and pass on the HW design & complete end-to-end HW solution
  • Drive team to achieve complete verification coverage of all hardware in the video IP design
  • Use verification methodologies (UVM) to build & extend test environments tailored for video codec & video pre-processing/post-processing applications
  • Develop & extend video codec verification stimuli & checkers to thoroughly test video codec HW
  • Collaborate with design, firmware, and software teams to debug issues related to video codec processing.
  • Automate verification tasks and contribute to verification tool development for video hardware.
  • Document verification plans, test results, and coverage reports.
  • Leverage AI tools & methodologies to enhance the verification process including automating verification tasks and verification tool development for video hardware.
  • Stay current on verification techniques & emerging video technologies.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of digital hardware design (verilog RTL) & debug experience
  • Verification using SystemVerilog, UVM, and simulation tools (VCS)
  • Proficiency in debugging hardware and analyzing simulation waveform outputs.
  • It would be desirable to have knowledge of video codecs (JPEG, AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1) & video processing concepts 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Undergrad degree required. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred
