The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra-municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel, is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to work in the capacity of:

COORDINATOR - RESILIENCE PLAN

(3-YEAR CONTRACT POSITION)

Reporting to the Director of the Civil Security Department and working closely with the civil security coordinators and collaboratively with other strategic partners, the Coordinator - Resilience Plan ensures the implementation of a Disaster Risk Regional Management Approach in accordance with the Act respecting civil protection to promote disaster resilience The Coordinator - Resilience Plan will plan and elaborate a Nunavik Public Safety and Awareness Strategy.

The duties and responsibilities of the Coordinator - Resilience Plan include:

  • Leading, supporting, and coordinating the Disaster Risk Management Committee.
  • Researching and documenting information within local communities in Nunavik related to the assessment of natural and man-made hazards.
  • Ensuring effective Disaster Risk Management with the Ministère de la Sécurité Publique (MSP) and local communities.
  • Compiling and documenting information on past research initiatives related to disaster risk management (i.e., CEN Laval, VRAC PARC, etc.).
  • Collaborating in the evaluation and assessment of regional risk management and mitigation.
  • In collaboration with the Nunavik - Regional Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee (N-REPAC), fostering engagement and leadership among the authorities responsible for disaster risk management.
  • Contributing to the definition of environmental hazard and risk identification.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify disaster risk prevention and mitigation measures.
  • Advising and making recommendations on the implementation and follow-up of prevention framework projects.
  • Advising communities on available government financial relief programs for disaster risk prevention and mitigation.
  • Collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to develop a strategy with regard to any potential or impending hazard.
  • Liaising with local resources to promote community activities focused on emergency preparedness and risk management.
  • Ensuring the follow-up and monitoring of various projects and activities under the resilience plan.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration or a related field. Relevant technical and work experience and achievements will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency planning and risk management
  • A degree or relevant experience in Project management will be considered an asset.
  • Basic budget management and follow-up experience or accounting skills will be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and respect tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Nunavik territory and traditional Inuit knowledge will be considered an asset.
  • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, and French
  • Available to travel frequently

Place of work: Hybrid with travel in Nunavik

Salary: Min. 96, 629$ - Max. 132, 852$

Benefits:

Lodging is paid while working in the northern villages. Meals and expenses paid while travelling in Nunavik;

Group benefits including Simplified Pension Plan;

Vacation: 30 days/year;

Statutory holidays: 20 days, including 10 during Christmas holidays.
