Reporting to the Environment department, the incumbent acts as project manager and is responsible, in collaboration with his team, for planning, designing and managing a variety of environmental projects. In addition, the incumbent must support the Port Infrastructures division, the Project Office and the Operations vice-presidency in his field of expertise. He will also act as an expert in the field of soil management, as well as surface and groundwater quality.

Responsabilities

  • Act as project manager for environmental projects, including preparation of calls for tender, selection of bidders, monitoring of costs and schedules, quality of deliverables and supervision of work;
  • Support the Port Infrastructure and Maintenance departments in planning and implementing environmental measures for certain infrastructure projects, including soil management and the application of appropriate environmental impact mitigation measures;
  • Evaluate projects on Port of Quebec territory under the Impact Assessment and Mitigation Process (IAMP) to determine the acceptability of projects proposed by the Infrastructure Department or by users of the port territory;
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise the disposal, removal, monitoring and traceability of contaminated soils and sediments with various subcontractors;
  • Coordinate contaminated land characterization and remediation projects;
  • Follow-up on soil piles with engineering, maintenance and user departments to determine origin of pile, related project, etc.;
    Carry out studies and technical reports, and determine temporary storage sites during the analysis period;
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise surface and groundwater quality monitoring;
  • Plan and coordinate the realization of various studies or programs for QPA's needs with external consultants;
  • Be responsible for environmental monitoring of the territory in collaboration with environmental technicians and port users;
  • Plan and coordinate the realization of various studies or programs for the needs of the QPA with external consultants;
  • Collaborate in the continuous improvement of environmental management tools, notably in collaboration with the Port of Quebec's innovation team;
  • Act as environmental watchdog and respond to emergencies and complaints by coordinating the application of corrective measures related to his sector, alternating with team members;
  • Provide support to supervisor and other team members for various mandates;
  • Contribute, through his attitude, to creating a work climate conducive to teamwork.
