    • Pre-Field Operation Responsibilities
    • Preparation and Planning:
      • Reviewing project requirements and ensuring all necessary plant, equipment, services and materials are provided, tested and operational pre-tunnelling
      • Understanding the scope of work, technical drawings, and specifications
      • Coordinating with project managers, construction managers, designers and other team members to clarify objectives and align on timelines
      • Conducting risk assessments and planning for safety measures and compliance with industry standards
      • Attending briefings and training sessions as required
      • Verifying spare parts, replacement tools, and resources are ready and available for the TBM tunnelling operations
      • Attending and providing input into internal and contractor meetings (including TBM readiness reviews, pre-construction meetings, ES&H
    • On-Site or Field Operation Responsibilities
    • Technical Expertise:
      • Providing hands-on technical support, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions in real-time
      • Applying specialized Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) tunnelling knowledge to solve on-site problems or complete tasks
      • Inspecting and witnessing acceptance testing of major tunnelling equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with operational and safety standards
      • Monitoring EPB TBM operating parameters against the predefined values and reporting deviations, deficiencies and concerns to the contractor’s site team and the Tunnel Construction Manager
      • Monitoring and reporting on delays and breakdowns of critical tunnelling plant and equipment
      • Reviewing ground and utility settlement monitoring data against the predicted values and raising any trends, breaches or concerns to the contractor’s team, Tunnel Construction Manager
    • Coordination and Supervision:
      • Working closely with other on-site staff (including the contractors tunneling and station construction teams, engineers and EH&S) to ensure work is completed efficiently and to specification
      • Supervising contractors tunnelling site activities, providing them with technical guidance and support as necessary
      • Liaising with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide progress updates or seek clarification on complex issues
      • Managing tunnel interfaces and access requirements with the underground structures being constructed in parallel with the tunnels (includes two stations, two tunnel portals and a crossover) and the follow-on contracts
    • Quality Control and Safety Compliance:
      • Conducting quality assurance checks to ensure that the work complies with technical standards, specifications, and industry regulations
      • Monitoring site safety practices, ensuring that proper safety protocols are followed, and reporting any safety concerns
      • Filling out field reports to document tasks completed, any issues encountered, and actions taken to address those issues
      • Checking and verifying the contractor records including materials and consumables, labor hours, production rates and downtime
    • Client & External Relations and Reporting:
      • Addressing any concerns or questions from the client, stakeholders, interfacing contracts amongst others and escalating issues when necessary
      • Preparing detailed field reports to summarize activities, outcomes, and any recommendations for further actions or follow-ups
