Role Overview
As a Design Director, you will lead the development of compelling brand and experience design solutions, overseeing projects from concept to execution. You will be responsible for ensuring design excellence across a range of clients while managing, mentoring, and inspiring a team of designers. In partnership with creative, strategy, and production teams, you will help shape the creative vision and push work to new levels of innovation and craft.
This role requires both hands-on design leadership and high-level strategic thinking-balancing aesthetics, brand storytelling, and business impact. You will be a key contributor to new business efforts and play a role in fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and creative excellence.
Job Responsibilities
· Develop and execute design solutions that elevate brand identity, campaigns, and experience design.
· Lead the creative process from concept to execution, ensuring that work is strategically grounded and visually compelling.
· Establish and advocate for best practices in design, ensuring work is consistent, scalable, and effective.
· Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated creative solutions that drive business objectives.
· Maintain a deep understanding of emerging design trends, tools, and technologies, ensuring our work remains innovative and forward-thinking.
· Serve as a trusted design expert, confidently presenting work and articulating design rationale to clients and internal stakeholders.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, guiding them through the design process and advocating for design-led solutions.
· Contribute to new business development by shaping creative strategies, crafting pitches, and leading presentations.
· Oversee multiple projects, ensuring quality control, alignment with client goals, and on-time delivery.
· Manage, mentor, and develop a team of designers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring a high standard of work.
· Provide clear direction and constructive feedback, helping designers push their craft and strategic thinking.
Basic Qualifications
Portfolio or samples of work demonstrating smart, brand-building designs and executions Preferred Qualifications
· 10+ years of design experience at an agency, studio, or brand.
Preferred Qualifications
· Winner of various awards and accolades for accomplished work.
· Proven ability to shape design vision and lead projects with minimal oversight.
· Experience managing career growth and development of Designers at the Design Director level and below.
· Demonstrated ability of shaping design vision for a piece of business and running it in a self-sufficient manner with minimal oversight.
· Strong conceptual thinking paired with expert execution across multiple design disciplines.
· Ability to multi-task across multiple pieces of business and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
· Strong interpersonal skills to work internally and with clients.
· Experience managing and mentoring designers, fostering career growth and creative development.
· Excellent presentation and communication skills-confidently articulating design decisions to clients and internal teams.
· Deep understanding of design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, and composition.
· Experience working across disciplines, including digital products, motion, campaign systems and brand identity.
· Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and emerging design tools.
