Volvo Group Canada Inc., is currently looking for a Chief Accountant to complete his actual team.
What you will do:
The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing all accounting and financial compliance activities for assigned legal entities. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting by developing and implementing robust review and approval procedures across end-to-end accounting processes. The position provides accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information to internal and external stakeholders while driving continuous improvement in accounting practices.
The Chief Accountant, in collaboration with the tax department, validates compliance with federal, state, provincial, local, and corporate regulations, policies, and laws. This includes timely closing of books in accordance with Volvo quality standards and accurate completion of all statutory and compliance reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting operations and deliver complete financial statements and reports for assigned legal entities in compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and Volvo Financial Policies and Procedures (FPP).
- Oversee accounting processes, including review and approval of all balance sheet accounts.
- Validates adherence to federal, state, provincial, local, and corporate requirements and escalates concerns with Tax team for resolution.
- Research and analyze accounting issues to assess impact on financial results.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to safeguard financial integrity.
- Develop and maintain internal control structures for accounting and compliance processes.
- Lead month-end closing activities, consolidation system reporting, and audit preparation.
- Coordinate statutory and compliance reporting to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Facilitate mid-year and annual external audits and ensure compliance with internal control objectives.
- Maintain accurate accounting records convertible to local GAAP for tax and legal purposes.
- Provide local management with timely, accurate, and actionable financial information for decision-making.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned to support the FCA department.
