Our financial services client is seeking a Senior Performance Test Engineer to own and build the bank’s performance testing capability from the ground up using Apache JMeter and Python

The Senior Performance Test Engineer will design, build, and execute comprehensive performance testing strategies for digital banking platforms across web, mobile, APIs, and microservices. This role leverages tools such as Apache JMeter, Python, and APM solutions to ensure scalability, reliability, and throughput under varying workloads. The engineer will lead environment creation and data strategies critical to the migration from PostgreSQL to CockroachDB.

Must Haves

• 7+ years in performance testing and engineering across large-scale digital systems
• Advanced expertise in Apache JMeter for end-to-end performance validation
• Strong hands-on experience with Python for data generation and automation utilities
• Proficiency in APM tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or New Relic
• Experience with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems performance
• Exposure to digital banking platforms and high-volume transactional systems

Nice to Have

• Experience with chaos engineering or service virtualization
• Knowledge of Kafka or event-driven performance testing
• Understanding of observability and SRE principles
• Experience leading database migration projects involving PostgreSQL or CockroachDB
• Background in fintech or large-scale payment systems

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the organization’s end-to-end performance testing framework
• Build and maintain production-like test environments supporting UI, API, and backend integrations
• Develop and optimize reusable test scripts using Apache JMeter and Python
• Create and manage high-volume, compliant test data for digital banking workflows
• Plan and execute load, stress, and endurance tests to validate system scalability
• Collaborate with Dev, DevOps, and database teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Support migration performance validation from PostgreSQL to CockroachDB
