Intermediate Python Developer with SQL experience to support a Risk Technology Team with one of our major banking clients- 40541

Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto - 2 days/week (Tuesday, Thursday)

Subject to change: 3-4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: ASAP to FYE Oct 31, 2026 - approx. 4.5 months (High Possibility of extension & conversion to FTE)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: GBME - Risk Technology - The Retail Risk Analytics Engineering (RRAE) team supports various stakeholders Global Risk Management (GRM) - Risk Models and Analytics Team, Regulatory Capital, IFRS9 provisioning & Enterprise stress Testing team in the implementation of regulatory and non-regulatory initiatives, utilizing both Agile and Waterfall approaches.

Project: GRM Data Governance COE - GRM Data Governance COE - data lineage across enterprise systems, specifically in the risk departments; initial phase of project - Developer will need to read and execute linux/python code for the data lineage

RRAE team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with practical development experience and technical capabilities to navigate and drive resolution of complex business problems. The role will require liaising with stakeholders on business initiatives, delivering solutions to meet the needs of multiple lines of business stakeholders, and managing medium to large projects, and providing ongoing support.

Typical Day in Role:

• Be a self-starter to independently resolve, investigate, and analyze requests, issues, and deliverables.

• Support application month-end and quarter-end batch processing end-to-end including monitoring and investigation related to risk model calculations and Capital/Regulatory reporting.

• Lead discussions with business and technology partners for changes as the application SME and solution for enhancement/ bug fixes.

• Coordinate with upstream and downstream operational teams to ensure issues and operational changes are properly communicated to stakeholders.

• Provide stakeholders with precise communication, artifacts, and clarification as pertains to month-end support, user requests, issues, and deliverables.

• Proactively learn about application, IT processes, and research on new technology.

• Augment/ produce documentation and artifacts.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1) 5+ years of experience as a developer

2) 2+ years SQL experience (running queries+ development + optimization + data modelling/mining)

3) 5+ years’ development experience with Python

4) 3+ years’ experience with Database Systems: Hive/Hadoop/MINIO, DB2 and SQL Server

5) Experience with SAS, Informatica, DataStage

6) Experience with Bitbucket/Git

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) QA Testing experience be able to ensure testing coverage for new requirements and changes.

Education:

Bachelor’s in technical field

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Strong Python Developer; experience understanding complexity of legacy systems

Ability to develop in languages such as SQL, SAS, and ability to self-learn new technologies/tools is a big plus.
