Data Platform Engineer

Duration: Contract 6 months

Location: Downtown Toronto, ON (3 days/week Onsite)

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in platform engineering, cloud architecture, or data engineering roles, with a proven track record of delivering technical solutions at speed.
• Deep, hands-on technical expertise configuring, deploying, and managing Snowflake at an enterprise scale (including warehouse sizing, Snowpark, data sharing, and performance tuning).
• Strong hands-on experience within the Azure data ecosystem, specifically with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and ADLS, to build and manage data integration pipelines.
• Proven technical proficiency in Databricks, with the ability to set up and support unified lakehouse architectures and MLflow environments.
• Extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates) and modern CI/CD practices (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) tailored to data platforms.
• Familiarity with modern workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Prefect, Airflow) and implementing cross-platform observability.
• Hands-on experience with modern data transformation tools like dbt (data build tool) and a strong understanding of dimensional modeling
• Execution-focused mindset with the ability to work independently, hit the ground running, and rapidly deliver automated, reusable technical patterns without needing extensive strategic guidance.
• Prior experience in financial services, particularly within capital markets, private markets, or pensions, is considered a strong asset.
• Excellent technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly document processes and collaborate effectively with both strategic leads and operational engineering teams.
