Job Description:
About the role:
Sun Life’s Corporate Expense Management team works to oversee the management of more than $14B of annual expenditures. The team works closely with key Digital, Business and Technology Solutions (DBTS) and corporate finance areas and each of Sun Life’s Business Groups to support the completion of critical financial deliverables and activities. These include reporting and analysis of quarterly and annual expense numbers; planning, budgeting and forecasting of expense values; and the creation and execution of expense control and governance frameworks.
This role will report to the Manager, Expense Management.
What will you do?
- Collaborate with Business Group partners to develop consolidated expense reporting variance analysis and actionable insights to senior leaders
- Coordinate key expense components of the annual Strategic Plan and Business Plan deliverables, including budgeting and forecasting activities
- Execute on our digitization and automation expense priorities, leveraging technical capabilities and a continuous improvement mindset
- Lead or otherwise support in the resolution of ad hoc requests for information from senior leadership, responding in a complete and effective manner with a high sense of urgency
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from multiple stakeholders with clear, well-supported analysis and a strong sense of ownership and urgency
- Build strong relationships with Corporate and Business Group partners
What do you need to succeed?
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, planning & reporting, or expense management within a global organization
- 2+ years of experience analyzing financial and operational data, drawing sound conclusions and making informed recommendations that drive business decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate internal and external reporting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information at the executive level in a compelling, succinct and diplomatic manner
- Ability to manage through complexity and ambiguity with a ‘can-do’ attitude and ownership mindset
- Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in the insurance industry or a large financial institution is an asset
- Working knowledge of relevant applications is an asset (Hyperion, SAP, Longview, Workiva, Tableau)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
