Your Opportunity

Our National office located in Toronto or Montreal is looking for a Director of Compliance to join our National Risk Management team. The Director of Compliance will undertake a broad range of duties, such as:

  • Lead the Firm’s enterprise risk management process in accordance with COSO standards.
  • Lead the Firm’s compliance program with government, regulatory, and CPA professional standards, policies, rules, and regulations, including compliance with Codes of Conduct, AI, securities requirements, anti-bribery, AML, sanctions, whistleblower, and CASL.
  • Proactively identify compliance risks and develop, document, implement and update Firmwide compliance policies to mitigate those risks.
  • Lead regular monitoring and testing of the Firm’s compliance program and risk controls to assess effectiveness and implement modifications where deficiencies are identified.
  • Work closely with the Firm’s Learning & Development and the Communications departments to develop Firmwide communications and training, including with respect to ERM, Code of Conduct, AI, securities requirements, anti-bribery, AML, sanctions, whistleblower, and CASL.
  • Research, analyze and respond to requests for compliance information and assistance.
  • Lead and manage consultations from the practice leaders and staff on situational matters requiring compliance input and risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement by working collaboratively with the Firm’s Leaders and Senior Managers in Firmwide Services, including Legal, HR, and IT.
  • Stay current on all relevant legislative changes and policy and procedure changes from government regulatory bodies.

Your experience and education

  • You have an undergraduate degree in business, accounting, law or a related field.
  • You have 10+ years of business experience, including at least 2 years’ Canadian experience leading ERM/compliance activities and administering an organization-wide compliance program. Fluency in French is considered a strong asset.
  • Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) or equivalent designation and experience with administering compliance programs is an asset.
  • You possess an in-depth knowledge of Canadian compliance standards and policies, compliance operations and procedures, internal audit techniques, and regulatory issues. Familiarity with CPA professional standards is an asset.
  • You have experience in interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures in an organization-wide compliance program.
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, whether they perform internal or client facing roles.
  • You have excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and under tight deadlines.
  • You have demonstrated commitment to professional ethics and integrity.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to work in a cross-team environment.
  • You value and are committed to teamwork, customer service and professionalism.
